He Pānui Kōhungahunga – the Early Learning Bulletin brings all early learning sector communications into one easily accessible place. It is now our main channel for communicating with you.

In late September, after publishing our ninth issue of the He Pānui Kōhungahunga - Early Learning Bulletin, we invited all readers to take part in a survey. We asked you to comment on the usefulness and accessibility of the information we provide each month, and to suggest other information you would like to see included in future issues.

We would like to thank the 262 respondents to the survey, and to let you know we have reflected on your feedback and are implementing some changes.

You told us the information we provide is useful, the layout generally easy to navigate, and the length of the issues about right. You find the Early Learning Bulletin a convenient resource that helps busy people keep up to date.

We learned that many of you share the information with your communities in your newsletters, in discussions with parents and whānau, on noticeboards, and at meetings with teaching staff.

You identified some areas for improvement. For example, you told us it can be hard to determine what information is relevant for playgroups. We have now developed a section specifically for playgroups and have invited our regional playgroup advisers to submit stories. You can contact your playgroup adviser with your suggestions.

You let us know that sometimes the links we provide in articles don’t go to exactly the right place on our webpages, and you need to scroll through to find the relevant section. We apologise for this. We will look into this further and do what we can to correct it.

You asked us not to let the Bulletin get too long or cluttered, and to keep jargon to a minimum. You also recommended we widen its appeal by including information for special education and Māori/Pasifika groups. We will keep all these suggestions in mind as we plan and publish future issues.

Overall, we heard you find the Bulletin informative and easy to read, and it gives you greater confidence that you know what is happening in the early learning sector.

Thank you for taking the time to complete the survey, and for helping us to ensure we continue to produce a quality newsletter.

Remember you don’t have to wait for a survey to let us know what you think – you can email us any time with your ideas and contributions at ece.info@education.govt.nz.
